El Calafate

Full Itinetary:

DAY 1: Arrival at El Calafate Airport and transfer to the hotel. Acommodation.

DAY 2: Breakfast. Full day tour to National Park. The tour begins bordering Lake Argentino, spotting a large number of European hares, maras, caranchos and black eagles; then, we will enter a forest of lengas, ñires and coihues until we reach the glacier viewpoint. From here and through walkways at different levels you can see the ice mass of 190 km2.

DAY 3: Breakfast. Pick up at the hotel and transfer to Punta Banderas to start the full-day navigation excursion. The ship will cover the north arm of Lake Argentino, spotting the Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers, entering their bays. The activity also includes navigation on the ice floe located about 20 km from the Upsala glacier. The ship will go through the Boca del Diablo, the narrowest part of the lake, and then go to the Upsala Channel and Spegazzini Channel, where you can see the respective glaciers at the end of each channel. The navigation takes place between spectacular icebergs of enormous size and varied forms. From the boats you can see, among others, the Upsala and Spegazzini Glaciers, the largest and the highest respectively among all the National Park glaciers.

DAY 4: Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Remember that rooms will be available at 15:00 pm; however, if the hotel has availability, it will allow your entry as a courtesy before the stipulated time. If you want to guarantee an early check in at any destination, please let us know and you will be charged the previous night.

At the destinations of Patagonia, new hotel properties are set on the outskirts of the city. This has been a trend of recent years, since it allows people to be more in touch with nature, it provides better views and it’s also a way to avoid pollution, so common in cities. These hotels are mostly superior properties with much comfort and quality of service.

At El Calafate, we recommend to consider changing the tour “Gateways Glacier Perito Moreno with Sailing Safari Boat” by “Minitrekking on the Glacier”. You would have to pay a differece of USD 95 per person; however, it’s really worth the payment, because the minitrekking is the ideal way to visit the glacier. This change cannot be made once you’re at the destination – Important information: the minitrekking operates from August 15th to late May, depending on climatic conditions.
